SCROLL DOWN

Welcome to Core, the resource store

CORE, The resource store ...

is a creative non-profit organization created to provide a community where business leaders and educators work together to provide materials, services, and learning opportunities that enhance the education of Indiana residents.  These opportunities don't always have to be in the classroom.  We are here to promote learning to all individuals in the community through our unique recycling efforts and vocational training opportunities.

CORE invites you to be a part of this unique shopping experience!  Anyone can shop at CORE!  Everyone is welcome to shop for items donated by local businesses and community members for a fraction of the original cost.

Our Founders

Our Founders

OUr Founders

We are Lori Heiges and Julie Williams, high school teachers in Indiana. Throughout our years of teaching, we saw a great need to redirect surplus materials from local businesses and put them into the hands of educators.  We also saw a great need to provide vocational training and job placement opportunities to young adults with disabilities.

Our vision led to a training facility like no other. CORE is a creative organization that acts as a center where business and community members work together to provide surplus materials and vocational training opportunities that enhance the education of Indiana residents.

This partnership is the CORE principle of our organization.

What We Believe:

* Surplus items from businesses and the community are plentiful and in great demand.

* Young adults with disabilities need opportunities for vocational training.

* Local businesses see value in employees with disabilities.

OUR Staff

CORE is comprised of dedicated managers, clerks, trainers, and trainees who work to serve our community and provide our customers with a unique shopping experience.  Our trainees come to us from various locations throughout northeast Indiana to gain vocational training in the retail environment while earning minimum wage.  Once these young adults with disabilities enter our vocational training program, they are assisted by trainers who help them learn the soft skills and job skills they will need to gain meaningful employment. Upon completion of the program, our staff works to place these skilled young men and women in jobs with local businesses.
